Here it is! The global movement, Safer Internet Day (SID) 2018, was celebrated on Tuesday, 6 February 2018 with a theme of "Create, connect and share respect: A better internet starts with you".
The primary goal of the movement was to call for every stakeholder to play their part in creating a better internet for everyone.
In particular, it was an invitation for everyone to join in and communicate in a respectful way in order to ensure a better digital experience for all.
Spinning our own DAFA take into the space, our workshop started with a few useful tips from Carol, our Digital Literacy Expert, on online safety, misinformation and fake news while our Digital Artist, Carlos, continued the conversation by guiding us through a fun digital sketch of a superhero fighting against malicious content.
An interesting highlight, the superhero sketch was based on ideas contributed by the crowd of DAFA participants. Some attributed the colours red and blue for the superhero, while others suggested having a shield for the character to be able to fend off negativity and other potential dangers lurking online.
All in all, the DAFA team had a great time working with the amazing team at Apple Orchard Road, and we are thankful for the supported given by our partner, Media Literacy Council, in this project of inclusivity.
Moving forward, we aspire to grow even further to connect and reach out to more people embracing our DAFA DNA of being safe, kind and smart as a way of life.
